Raves
Vice magazine photo reportage

In the summer of 2001, at least in Madrid, mobile phones weren´t such a common thing among the younger crowd as they are now. Still, people always found the way to get together and dance in the middle of nowhere, most of the time, a field with super loud music and some visuals. Some of my friends use to do these raves, and somehow they were always full. Guys were flown from London to play and dj, the generator would run out of gasoline, and somebody would have to do a super fast ride to the gas station to get some more petrol to keep the system running. And this sensation of excitement, of not knowing what you would find, who would be djing, how many people will show up, is something that was super nice to add to the moment of living the present. The mystery of surprise WAS SUCH A COOL THING TO EXPERIENCE. While nowadays we know everything before we even get to places. VICE published this story, and many people freaked out thinking, that´s not from the 00´s, this rave is from now, just done with Instagram filters.
